All the young men and women of the village were taking part at the "Klidonas" celebrations.
Young unmarried women drink the "silent water" and are not allowed to talk until they jump over a fire (which burns flower garlands) three times. The young men try to make them speak by scaring them, annoying them and distracting them. While the girls are silent they learn who they are about to marry, as long as they remain silent. Or something like that. |
