disappointment

Recently DA had a great offer: no postal charges for print orders. It was the perfect opportunity to spend those deviant dollars I got from selling my prints.
I've always wanted RGB as a mug, so without second thought, I ordered a big one. Soon enough the mug was here. The package looked safe enough for a mug that traveled half the world, although it didn't look very nice. Anyway, the packaging is irrelevant, what's inside is that counts.
The mug is just a big disappointment. First of all it is tall while I thought (I don't know why) it would be wide, but that's just me. The big problem is the print on it.
And the print is blurry. I know they resized the original image to fit (the original is big enough to produce a 24X36 inches print) but WTF, couldn't they adjust the sharpness a bit while doing this? I mean it's much worst than any given local print shop could produce.
I expected way much more from DeviantArt prints. Too bad. :(

You can look a snapshot of the mug here.

great photographic events in Heraklion

I haven't shot a single picture lately. I don't have time and I don't have anything to photograph. I guess it's just one more of those phases everyone passes.
The fact that I haven't touched my camera doesn't mean I don't get involved with photography.

As a member of the photographic group of the university of Crete, the last two months all I do is preparing the great celebrating events for the team's 20th birthday. We arrange places, meet people, talk to the media, make facebook events, redesign webpages.. we even made a tv spot in stop motion!

We have special guests (like Yannis Kontos and id=2K7O3R14C264&nm=Nikos%20Economopoulos\"Nikos Economopoulos), exhibitions and talks happening in October. See more details in the team's da account here: ~fopk
Even more info (in Greek only, sorry) in our official website: [link]

Of course you are all invited :)

Yeah!
Finally DA has made a fantastic new feature: Portfolios!
I remember a few years back when the first rumors started to spread. There was even a design contest about it.. The final product of course has little to do with that winner, yet the strange thing is that it's even better!
I really like this new feature. Well done!

Ok, I admit it. I'm obsessed with studio photography.
Since I got access to those damn studio lights, I can hardly shoot without them.
The funny thing is that I don't know exactly how to use them, nor how I could make good use of them. Maybe I should find someone who knows a bit more about studio photography and learn, or read a few "studio photography for dummies" books..
any suggestions on where should I start?

Last weekend I attended a boxing show, that stared "Mike Zabidis" or "Iron Mike".
I went there with my friend =stylianos and we managed to enter as "photographers" and watch the whole show from as close to the ring as possible. After watching this event from so close, I have to admit that I didn't expect it to be so intense, so I was completely amazed. The funny thing is that we ended up to be the official photographers of the event, since there were no professional photographers there!
If you want a great chance for action photos, don't miss any event like this. It totally worths it.
